“Hi Centretown, my name is Sacha and I’m a communications professional and an art director and I live in Centretown.
I wanted to talk about multi-sensory design, it’s something that is really interesting to me.
I love all things design, I started off by being really interested in visual design and as I started down that path I realized how limiting visual design is.
It only touches on one sense and so what I am learning to explore is how we can include more human senses in things that we design.
By doing this we get to explore the ways in which humans receive information and explore the world around us and that’s just super important.
It expands our audience, it allows richer experiences for all, it removes barriers and things are just a lot cooler when we can play with emotions and senses and see what we can evoke by doing a little bit more and pushing the boundaries.
One of the things I love about our neighborhood is all the heritage buildings that are around.
They’re really beautiful to look at but one of the challenges is that they are not super accessible.
What I would love to continue to explore is how we can design spaces that remove barriers and allow for exploration for everybody.
I definitely don’t have all the answers, it’s something that I love to explore and I would love to keep the conversation going so if you have any questions or comments or ideas then I’d love to chat, you can find me on LinkedIn or Instagram @SachaJackman.
Have a good day!”
