“Did you know that there’s hundreds of homeless cats in Ottawa and it takes about roughly $700 to get a cat ready for adoption?
My name is Jasmine Bencke and I’m a co-founder of Ottawa Kitten Rescue.
We started this rescue in March of 2020.
We’ve learned that there’s such a high need for assistance with the overpopulation of cats in Ottawa.
There’s never enough rescue, there’s never enough fosters, there’s never enough funds to help these little guys out.
And so our goal is to, you know, spay and neuter as many cats as possible so that we can reduce the population and make it so that these little guys don’t end up in shelter at risk of euthanasia or dying on the streets because there’s no one to take them in.
We do a lot of community outreach when we have the funds available to help folks that may need help with assistance and getting their cats spayed and neutered or whether they need food for their cats and stuff like that.
We try and provide as much support as we can and we also partner with Healthy Pets. That’s just on Bank Street in Centretown as well.
They’ve been a really great asset for us with just providing us support over the years, which has been really great.
You can reach out to us and get more information on the fundraiser.
We have a number of different ones going on throughout the summer, so if you want to help kittens like these, then we’ll see you at the event.”
