“Hi, Centretown.

I am Hayley and I live in Centretown and I work in Centretown. I’m very proud to live my life in Centretown. I love this neighborhood.

I love the community here. I primarily bartend at Union 613 in the main level at Union also in the basement, The Staff Room. You can always find me there four nights a week.

However, I did start a Spanish school online during the pandemic. So when 2020 happened. Everyone had to postpone their trips down south. So I figured there was a great opportunity to have people learn Spanish, learn the language before going on their trip. And to me, I know from learning Spanish as an 18 year old.

I didn’t speak it my whole life. I am not Latina, but I did learn it as an adult and I can say it has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself, especially with my love of travel to Latin America so with people going on their trips taking my class proved to be such an amazing enhancement for their trip for their journey, for their connections that they made overseas with people they otherwise would not have met or connected with and I just think that is one of the most special moments for me is to see someone Experience such joy hearing me speak their language So I just hope that for everyone Spanish is a growing language as we know bad bunny is headlining the Super Bowl So it is a really important language to start learning and I am here whenever you want to start that journey. Gracias!”

more Stories of People

Centretown would like to acknowledge that Ottawa is built on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

The Anishinaabe Algonquin peoples have lived on this land since time immemorial. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.
