“Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Playboy Magazine and Cosmopolitan Magazine made a baby?

Well, that’s exactly what Pearly Magazine is.

Hi, I’m Pearly, and I’m a visual artist in the Ottawa area, and I’m excited to talk to you about my magazine, Pearly Magazine.

The whole purpose behind all of my art, including this magazine, is reclamation.

Reclamation from traumas, reclamation from even some juicy things that I wanna change the narrative on.

And so in my magazine, you’ll find some fun things, like a kink quiz, what’s your kink style?

You’ll find a lot of artistic statements in relation to my bodies of work, and there are different series of photos I’ve taken of myself with my friend and collaborator, Life of Bad News.

And the theme overall of all of these images is wet.

So I’ll let your mind run wild with that, but I also want to invite you guys to my launch party.

I think it’s so important to celebrate this and remind folks that print is not dead.

In the age of social media and digital media, I want to really reclaim that space that’s been kind of harmful to me in my art and really censors my work and has no space for erotic exploration and brings it to life in person.

Right here at Wicked Wanda’s in Centretown on Bank Street on August 21st from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

So please get your ticket and reach out to me if you’d like to attend.

I would love to see you there.”

Centretown would like to acknowledge that Ottawa is built on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

The Anishinaabe Algonquin peoples have lived on this land since time immemorial. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.
