St. Patrick’s Day is a special day for many. A day of celebration, green coloured everything, an excuse to party it up with our friends, and of course…Kissing Irish people.
For us here at Centretown, the feeling of celebration courses through our veins, and the businesses in the area support this sentiment! Countless bars and restaurants partake in helping patrons celebrate St Paddy’s. So this begs the question, What is going on in Centretown for St Paddy’s day?
Well fear not, Guinness lovers…We are here to share with you just some of what can be enjoyed for St Patrick’s Day Weekend 2025.
The Royal Oak
St Patrick’s Day unfortunately falls on a Monday this year, meaning many will be celebrating over the weekend. Well, the Royal Oak Pub decided to take this a step further and celebrate for nearly a whole month! From March 3rd – March 23rd you can enjoy a special Irish menu at the Oak, complete with various boxty’s and a multitude of Irish beers. The Royal Oak is known for being one of Centretown’s leaders in St Patrick’s Day celebrations each year, and this year is no exception.
Bar Guapo
Here at Centretown we try not to let personal bias get in the way of a good story, but it’s hard for me as an individual (hi, I’m Jordan) to not gush about Bar Guapo. Those of you who know me know how much I love this place. The cozy cocktail bar built inside the front of a hairdressers is nothing short of spectacular for a night out. From affordability to quality, it truly is a hidden gem on Somerset St W.
For Bar Guapo, St Paddy’s day is no different! They will be dressing the space for the festivities and serving up festive beverages including green beer and $4 Jamo shots (a personal favourite of industry workers across the city).
On top of all of this they will be playing some Irish party tunes to keep the vibes festive and exciting for your Irish-inspired Monday.
The Gilmour
What does it take to create the “Average Canadian Bar” ?
Well, you mix a little bit of great bar food, a dash of friendly staff, ½ a cup of warm atmosphere, and a heaping pile of good vibes and you get what can only be described as an Ottawa institution. From trivia, to bingo, to a classic pub night out; The Gilmore really has everything you’re looking for in a classic Canadian hang.
So I bet you’re asking yourself…what business does a Canadian bar have celebrating an Irish day to the extent that they do?
Well, The Gilmore has become a staple in not only Centretown, but Ottawa when it comes to St Pat’s.
They will be celebrating on the special day itself (Monday the 17th) open from morning til’ night. If you choose to celebrate your St Paddy’s day at The Gil you will be given a multitude of opportunities to win prizes, make friends, and of course…drink beer (or whatever your poison may be!)
Your boss isn’t going to like what I have to say here but if I were you, I’d book that Monday off! I’ll see you at The Gilmore, The Average Irish-Canadian bar. (One day only)
T’s Pub
T’s Pub is another Ottawa staple. An LGBTQIA+ positive bar in the heart of Somerset St W, T’s is one the most welcoming and lively spots in the city. From outdoor parties in the summer, to talent shows, and even an “underwear night” T’s manages to find fun and creative ways to always keep people having a good time!
St Paddy’s is no different. They are celebrating all weekend long with Paddy’s themed parties, with the culminating event being a 2pm start-time party on the big “holiday monday”.
Another reason to book your Monday, March 17th off of work. T’s is ready to party! Are you?
St Patrick’s Day is one of the most wonderful days not only in Centretown, not only in Ottawa, but around the world. It’s a day of celebration, comradery, and creating memories that last a lifetime! Thankfully, Centretown has you covered for all of your celebration needs for the entirety of this make-shift long weekend, and we can’t wait to enjoy it with all of you!
Kiss me! I’m from Centretown!
