Welcome to Uncommon Spaces

We’ve launched three new installations along Bank Street as part of the Street Seats Pilot Program – a collaboration between Bloomberg Philanthropies, the City of Ottawa, and Centretown BIA. Together, we’re transforming underused street corners into vibrant public spaces that bring creativity, connection, and community back to the heart of our downtown.

From now through October, we’re partnering with @urbanartcollective.ca, @musicartppl, @thirdplace.ott, local community groups, and Centretown businesses to activate these spaces with free events, art, music, and more – all designed to surprise and delight.

Join us for live performances, pop-up workshops, community art drops, movement sessions, and spontaneous moments of joy – all happening at Frank, MacLaren, and Florence streets.

A huge thank you to the City of Ottawa for funding this initiative and helping us create these welcoming new places for neighbours and visitors alike.

Centretown would like to acknowledge that Ottawa is built on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

The Anishinaabe Algonquin peoples have lived on this land since time immemorial. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.
