“I had this idea a few months ago where I wanted to reconnect with my inner child and spark nostalgia and creativity and curiosity and I did that through my art.
My name is Solange, I am an artist and also a resident of Centretown.
It’s been three years, I live, work, play in this area and I absolutely love it.
I find “Play” is something that us adults oftentimes have forgotten, suppressed or simply don’t remember how to do. So I created this series where I am asking loved ones and friends and co-workers about their favorite childhood movies or characters and I create art based on it.
So my art is based on stippling or this technique called pointillism and I’m just dotting for hours and creating something with each dot on this paper.
So I’ve been learning how to tattoo, it’s been maybe since three, four months now so I’m doing a part time apprenticeship with Bad Vibes Tattoo Studios, been practicing on fake skin.
I did my first tattoo two weeks ago and I was so nervous but I am so curious and welcoming where this brings me.
