A stronger investment in the streets we share

Street cleanliness isn’t abstract in Centretown. It’s what people notice when they walk down Bank. It shapes first impressions. It affects how customers feel when they step into a shop, grab a coffee, or meet friends for dinner.

And it’s something our members have been clear about: it matters.

That’s why we’ve expanded our neighbourhood cleaning initiative and officially launched the Centretown Clean Team – a direct investment in keeping our streets clean, cared for, and welcoming.

When something matters to our members, it becomes a priority for us.

Street cleanliness has been a consistent theme in conversations with businesses across Centretown. In response, we’ve expanded our cleaning program to increase on-the-ground presence and provide more direct, visible support at street level.

The Centretown Clean Team represents a proactive approach – not waiting for change, but investing directly in the spaces our businesses rely on every day.

This is about leadership. It’s about ownership. And it’s about showing up for the neighbourhood in a way that’s consistent, accountable, and rooted in service.

More Presence. More Consistency. More Care.

Working in partnership with Univer Cleaning, the Centretown Clean Team now includes:

Five hours of cleaning per day, six days per week
Two fully branded Clean Team vehicles, increasing visibility and accountability at street level
Weekly targeted power washing in high-traffic and priority areas

This program supplements City services and allows us to respond more directly to the needs of our district. It means more boots on the ground. More consistency. And more attention to the areas our businesses rely on every day.

Supporting Our Members

While the Centretown Clean Team focuses on shared public spaces, members can also access additional cleaning services through our partner, Univer Cleaning, including:

Pressure washing
Window cleaning
Patio cleaning
Waste bin cleaning (non-dumpsters)
Debris removal (non-construction)
Site clean-up
Special event waste management

Centretown BIA members receive a 15% discount on these additional services.

This added benefit is another way we’re working to support businesses directly – not just at the street level, but at the storefront level too.
