Blue Whale

by Dan Metcalfe

Against the backdrop of the whale’s vastness, we see a man taking in the beauty that is in front of him, blissfully unaware of the potential interaction he may have with this majestic creature below. This mural serves as a reminder to take a step back and appreciate all of the beauty that surrounds us on a daily basis. Dan was born and raised in Ottawa and works as a freelance designer, illustrator, and artist. In 2010, he established his own design studio. His work can be found all over the city, as he is deeply rooted in the city’s artistic community.

Centretown would like to acknowledge that Ottawa is built on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

The Anishinaabe Algonquin peoples have lived on this land since time immemorial. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.
