“My name is Maren Kathleen Elliott and I’m a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of movement, visual arts and sound.

I’m really inspired by stories, emotion, seeing what I observe around me and then bringing that back in using humour, using curiosity to express that with different non-verbal forms and then bringing that back to people as a means to connect.

I’m really privileged to have a studio where I can come into this place of observation, contemplation and sometimes bring folks in, rehearse, dance and I would love to see more creative workspaces like that in Centretown, around the city but in Centretown as well.

Sometimes it can be challenging for artists to find stable, affordable places for their studio but I think Centretown has a lot to offer and I feel hopeful that there can be more places like that.

So really curious if any of you have any thoughts on this, any ideas, what your vision might be for the future of artists in Centretown.

Would love to learn about that.

Feel free to leave a comment below, send me a DM and that’s it.”

Centretown would like to acknowledge that Ottawa is built on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

The Anishinaabe Algonquin peoples have lived on this land since time immemorial. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.
