5 Ways to Cool Off in Centretown This Summer

I’m sure we can all agree that this summer, while it showed up late, has shown up fierce. It is hot.

We are all looking for fun (and tasty) ways to cool off this summer, and as usual – Centretown has got you covered.

These are just some of our favourite tasty ways to stay cool in the Ottawa summer heat in our beloved little neighbourhood.

En Chimnies - 117 Bank St

The list starts with something a little different! En Chimnies is a Chimney Cake spot that is showing online virality across the city. These Hungarian pull apart desserts are baked to order and topped with a mound of your choice of ice cream and toppings. The variety of options creates a choose your own adventure experience that never fails to impress both your taste buds and your phone camera. When paired with one of their unique iced coffee selections, En Chimnies is an ideal way to cool down.

Yummy Waffles - 369 Bank St

As the name suggests, this is your ideal Centretown location for yummy waffles.

This Bank street treat (ha we love a rhyme) once again comes piled high with your choice of ice cream and toppings. Yummy waffles takes the classic Belgian waffle from your breakfast table to your dessert heaven, and is even open into the wee hours of the morning (an incredible 4am) for you to enjoy a cool down treat from the afternoon stroll to the post bar munch. Why not hop off a 30 degree patio and into an indulgent plate of ice cream topped Belgians?

Some Coffee & Some Tea - 171 Bank St, 2nd floor

Why not trade in a cold munch for a cool sip?

Some Coffee & Some Tea has more to offer than just what the name suggests. Its wide array of beverages are good to quench any type of thirst!

However, we at Centretown are here for the bubble tea. From elevated milk teas, to fruit jelly filled punches, to popping boba iced coffees – Some Coffee & Some Tea provides patrons with their preferred bubble tea delivery method. Grab one on the go or sit in and enjoy in a lounger – Either way SCST will keep you cool this summer.

Little Victories - 209 Queen St

You know we had to shout out one of our favourite coffee shops on this list!

Real coffee drinkers know that summer means iced coffee season, and LVC is among the best at delivering. This is a no frills, high end, expertly curated cup of coffee – and that doesn’t change when they add ice! Whether your poison is an iced vanilla oat latte, iced matcha, or iced black coffee injected straight into your veins, LVC has found the balance between simplicity, expertise, and keeping you cool.

The Gilmour - 313 Bank St

Let’s be realistic for a moment here. On a hot summer day, sometimes the only thing you want – the only thing that can quench your thirst from the humidex waiting on the other side of your air conditioned home or office doors – is an ice cold beer (or cider/seltzer for our gluten free friends).

No matter your preferred libation, there is seldom a better place to enjoy one than at the Gilmour. A truly classic Canadian dive – where the staff is friendly, the frills are nowhere to be found, and of course the beer is COLD! From the tap to the can to the bottle, from the bar seat to the group table to the back garden patio, The Gil cannot be ignored as a premium cool down option this summer in Centretown.

The weather man is often wrong, but the time is always right to make your way down to any of your favourite Centretown establishments, finding your favourite new way to cool off. We only get a few months of summer, may as well enjoy it!

From Centretown, with love!
