Raphael Weinroth-Browne

“I try to expose or reveal inner worlds that are otherwise invisible through my music. I try to kind of do this live-in-real-time world building with my cello and with my compositions and I have a kind of a raw intense energy about the way I play. I like to share my music in a lot of informal settings and to bring this music into places like Art House Cafe, Pressed Cafe and Umi Cafe, even before that and all of these venues in the neighborhood and in the parks too. Sometimes I would play in Dundonald Park or Minto Park. Just bust out the cello and start playing and start shredding… I feel that it’s this music for everyone but I want to create an atmosphere with it that enchants people and that draws them in and that maybe inspires them to live more fully or to understand themselves more deeply and to really have an experience together”.

Centretown would like to acknowledge that Ottawa is built on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

The Anishinaabe Algonquin peoples have lived on this land since time immemorial. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.
